For Planners

Regularly scheduled series (RSS) is a live activity planned as a series with multiple, ongoing sessions, e.g., offered weekly, monthly, or quarterly. A RSS is primarily planned by and presented to the accredited organization's professional staff and generally targets the same audience over the whole series. Examples include grand rounds, tumor boards, and morbidity and mortality conferences.

RSS activities are reviewed two week in advance of the scheduled RSS sessions. To avoid delays in session approval, faculty and presentations should be added to the RSS session at least two weeks prior to the scheduled date of the activity. Sessions with missing faculty and/or presentations risk not being approved by the scheduled date/time. Retroactive approval is not permitted.

If the RSS activity offers pharmacy credits, any date changes must be sent to [email protected] before the date of the session.  If notification is not sent, learners cannot be reported to ACPE. It is the responsibility of the coordinator to notify OCPD of date changes.

For specific questions regarding RSS activities, contact [email protected]

Planning a CE Activity

All CE activites are developed to address a problem in practice or an area of improvement. The process of planning begins when an educational activity is the desired intervention to address a change that has been made to a standard of care, a problem that exists in practice, or an opportunity for improvement.

Professional Practice Gap

The Professional Practice Gap (difference between desired state and current state) validates the need for the educational activity.

Credit Calculation

Credit is awarded for those portions of the educational activity devoted to the learning experience.

Time for breaks and meals should be clearly deliniated and not included in the credit calculation.

All or some of the activity content may qualify for Nursing Pharmacotherapeutic or PA Patient Safety and Risk credits. These qualifying sessions must be identified in the agenda.

Required Financial Disclosures

Thomas Jefferson University adheres to the Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education and the policies that supplement the Standards.

All planners, faculty, and others in control of educational content are required to disclose any relevant financial relationships with ACCME defined ineligible companies within the past 24 months.

Ineligible companies are those whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients.

All planners must have a current financial disclosure completed before an application is approved.

Financial disclosures must be current at the scheduled time of the activity. Planners may have to update a current financial disclosure so that it will be valid at the time of the scheduled activity.

All faculty must complete a financial disclosure by the due date provided. If the financial disclosure is not received by the specified due date, it is possible that their session and the sessions that occur 30-minutes before and after their session will not be accredited.

Disclosures are not required for non-clinical content such as leadership, team building, or communication skills.
