Overview

This one day, in-person conference, now in its forty first year, will provide participants with the tools that can readily be implemented in daily practice. The program will feature presentations on esophageal/gastroduodenal disorders, small bowel and colonic disorders, advances in gastroenterology, and liver disease. Learning interests will be matched with updates on the latest clinical trial data, current and emerging treatment strategies, and case-based panel discussions. Gastroenterologists, internist, surgeons, primary care providers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment and management of patients with GI disorders are invited to attend.

 

 

This year's keynote will be delivered by Darren Brenner, MD, Professor of Medicine (Gastroenterology and Hepatology) and Surgery at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Utilize the newest approaches to managing esophageal and gastroduodenal disorders.
  2. Describe interprofessional team strategies for improving care coordination and communication to improve patient outcomes in various gastrointestinal diseases.
  3. Assess key advances in various GI illnesses, their clinical impact and implications for current and future research.
  4. Summarize recent advances in the treatment of various liver diseases including the indications for liver transplantation in these diseases.
  5. Discuss the latest guidelines in the management of IBS.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Thomas Jefferson University is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians: This educational activity is designated for a maximum of 7.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity awards 7.25 nursing contact hours.

Registered Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians: This activity awards 7.25 contact hours.

 

Other Healthcare Professionals: This educational activity is designated for 7.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Other Credit
Nursing Pharmacology Credit: This educational activity offers 4.75 nursing pharmacology credit. Qualifying sessions are noted on the agenda.

PA Patient Safety and Risk Credit: This education activity offers 5.75 PA Patient Safety and Risk credit. Qualifying sessions are noted on the agenda.

Successful Completion

To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than August 1, 2023. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.

Cancellation Policy

Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course. There will be no refunds after this period.*  Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20).  Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee.  All refunds will be processed after the conference.  The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines or travel agencies.
