Overview

Monthly Internal, Confidential departmental review of current department outcomes data.

It is mentored/proctored by the Department Chair and Co-chair and department providers are expected to participate in presenting relevant cases, data and review supporting relevant medical literature when appropriate. There is time allotted for peer-to-peer review and comment to guide best practices, identify areas for improvement and to also highlight the clinical strengths of the department.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, healthcare team members will be able to:

  1. Identify the current evidenced based practice guidelines for the perioperative management of the cardiovascular surgery patient utilizing STS (Society of Thoracic Surgeons), ACC (American College of Cardiology), AHA (American Heart Association) to refine and improve our clinical outcomes at Jefferson-Einstein.
  2. Implement within our scope of practice current evidenced based practice guidelines for the perioperative management of the cardiovascular surgery patient utilizing STS (Society of Thoracic Surgeons), ACC (American College of Cardiology), AHA (American Heart Association) to refine and improve our clinical outcomes at Jefferson-Einstein.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Thomas Jefferson University is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians: This educational activity is designated for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity awards 1.00 nursing contact hours.

Physician Assistants:


Thomas Jefferson University has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria.
