Overview

This symposium provides up-to-date content on topics relevant in today's primary care practice environment. Attendees will engage with experts sharing latest information on common diseases, issues, conditions faced by PCPs, including screening, prevention, treatment and management.

Successful Completion

To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than Thursday, July 11, 2024. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, healthcare team members will be able to:

  1. Apply latest guidelines for disease screening, prevention.
  2. Discuss current diagnostic and therapeutic options for common illness and injuries seen in a PCP.
  3. Defend the rationale for the selection of different therapies based on currently available evidence-based data and individual patient profile.
  4. Apply latest guidelines for up to date management of chronic diseases.
  5. Examine the use/misuse of anti-inflammatory medicines, including steroids, NSAIDs and others.
  6. Identify social determinants of health regarding disparate communities and cultivate opportunities to address health care disparities through primary care.
  7. Use evidence-based approach regarding coping with provider burnout.
  8. Examine the importance of humor in the practice of medicine.
  9. Take part in shared decision making discussions with our patients before automatically initiating treatments, therapies, especially regarding primary prevention strategies.
  10. Identify the important clinical issues in cardiovascular disease prevention, screening and management.
  11. Recognize the importance of the Covid pandemic and its impact on medicine, local communities and the Nation.

ABIM MOC

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 22.75 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

The AAFP has reviewed 47th Annual Eastern Shore Medical Symposium and deemed it acceptable for up to 22.75 Live AAFP Elective credit(s). Term of Approval is from 06/17/2024 to 06/21/2024. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Cancellation Policy

Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course. There will be no refunds after this period.*  Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20).  Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee.  All refunds will be processed after the conference.  The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines or travel agencies.

Exhibitor Rules

  • Exhibitor is not providing commercial support for this educational activity. Exhibitor is purchasing exhibit space.
  • Exhibits are intended for informational purposes, products should not be sold through the exhibit hall.
  • TJU and the exhibitor acknowledge and agree that the exhibitor may be subject to Section 6002 of the Affordable Care Act, which added Section 1128G to the Social Security Act, and its implementing regulations codified in 42 CFR 402 &403 (Collectively the Sunshine Act). Exhibiting companies are solely responsible for collecting any information about actions within their virtual exhibit space that constitutes a payment or transfer of value to a covered participant, which is required to reported under the Sunshine Act.
  • Exhibitors may observe educational sessions but must refrain from participating in the activity.
  • No recordings of the scientific sessions on behalf of the exhibitor's company is permitted.


Application Deadline

Applications for exhibits will be accepted through June 7, 2024. After June 7, 2024, applications may be accepted on a case by case basis.

Cancellation and Refunds

In the event that the symposium is canceled by the organizers, exhibit fees will be refunded in full, however Thomas Jefferson University is not responsible for other expenses incurred by the exhibitor.

In the event an exhibitor cancels participation, refunds will be made as follows:

  • Prior to the deadline of June 7, 2024 a refund will be given minus a 10% administration fee.
  • After June 7, 2024 no refund will be given.
  • Exhibitors who are absent from the conference will not receive a refund.
  • Exhibit cancellations must be made in writing.
