Overview

This annual symposium will introduce the latest developments in gastrointestinal disorders and/or liver disease as presented by experts in the field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Treating gastrointestinal disorders as well as liver disease can be a complex issue and patient problems are diverse, necessitating a team approach with differing expertise and skills. Attendees will be able to participate in the interactive panel discussions throughout the day.

Note: This Symposium will occur post Digestive Disease Week (DDW) Annual Meeting and bring the highlights of this event to Philadelphia.

Successful Completion

To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than Friday, June 28, 2024. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, healthcare team members will be able to:

  1. Discuss updates in diagnosis and treatment of MASH (formerly NASH).
  2. Review treatments for viral hepatitis and advanced liver disease.
  3. Outline the latest techniques to optimize colon cancer screening and polyp detection.
  4. List the benefits of endoscopic treatment options for endoscopic submucosal dissection.
  5. Explain the use of new agents to treat gastric and small intestinal motility disorders.
  6. Explain the potential benefits of yoga, breathing, and mindfulness meditation practices on patients with DGBIs.
  7. Discuss treatment paradigms for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in 2024.
  8. Explain the advances in Barrett's diagnosis and treatment.

Accreditation

 

In support of improving patient care, Thomas Jefferson University is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians: This educational activity is designated for a maximum of 5.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity awards 5.50 nursing contact hours. 

Other Healthcare Professionals: This educational activity is designated for 5.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Other Credit
Nursing Pharmacology Credit: This educational activity offers 0.75 nursing pharmacology credit. Qualifying sessions are noted on the agenda.

PA Patient Safety and Risk Credit: This education activity offers 0.75 PA Patient Safety and Risk credit. Qualifying sessions are noted on the agenda.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 5.5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Cancellation Policy

Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course. There will be no refunds after this period.*  Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20).  Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee.  All refunds will be processed after the conference.  The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines or travel agencies.

In the event an exhibitor cancels participation, refunds will be made as follows:

  • Prior to the deadline of May 24, 2024 a refund will be given minus a 10% administration fee.
  • After May 24, 2024 no refund will be given.
  • Exhibitors who are absent from the conference will not receive a refund.
  • Exhibit cancellations must be made in writing.
