Overview

The 11th Annual Lung Cancer Symposium offers physicians, nurses, physician assistants, respiratory care specialists and public health professionals a comprehensive lung cancer update, and provide an interdisciplinary perspective of the disease, care and treatment management plans.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss new modalities of surgery which can lead to long-term cures and optimal results for patients with lung cancer.
  2. Examine the utilization of a multidisciplinary team in the treatment of lung cancer.
  3. Assess the evolving radiotherapy techniques in treatment of lung cancer.
  4. Review the newest targeted molecular therapies and immunotherapies for lung cancer.
  5. Assess the impact of brain metastases on lung cancer treatment modalities.
  6. Explain state of the art of lung cancer prevention.
  7. Evaluate the most appropriate diagnostic approach for lung nodules, lung masses, and metastatic lesions.
  8. Recognize how treatment techniques vary based on lung cancer disease stage.
  9. Assess the use of SBRT in early stage lung cancer treatment.
  10. Identify specific strategies to implement on lung cancer disease management as part of a continuing improvement process for clinical practices.
  11. Employ lung cancer screening best practices for collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to improve patient care.
  12. Assess respiratory care treatment strategies for lung cancer patients.
  13. Employ the latest community outreach strategies to reduce lung cancer disparities around the region.
  14. Explain the role of sub lobar versus lobar resection in treating lung cancer with surgical intervention.
  15. Identify patients that are ideal candidates for minimally invasive, robotic surgery as a treatment for early stage lung cancer.
  16. Examine the role of pulmonary rehabilitation with lung cancer patients.
  17. Identify challenges associated with lung cancer clinical trial enrollment.
  18. Apply relationship-building values and the principles of collaboration in caring for lung cancer patients.

Cancellation Policy

Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course. There will be no refunds after this period.*  Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20).  Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee.  All refunds will be processed after the conference.  The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines or travel agencies.
