2nd Annual Epilepsy Update

The 2nd Annual Epilepsy Update will emphasize the changes to medical treatment, surgical treatment, diagnosis, and management of individuals with epilepsy and seizures. Participants will learn to create a treatment plan and provide high-quality care for patients with epilepsy, including daily medication, rescue medications, emergency treatment, and surgical treatment. In addition, seizure morbidity and mortality, risks, and safety concerns will be discussed and identified, and strategies to mitigate them will be reviewed.

1. Explain prescribing principles and contraindications for epilepsy.
2. Create a seizure treatment plan for individuals with epilepsy and intellectual disability.
3. Identify autoimmune epilepsy initial treatment and evaluation.
4. Examine the current devices utilized for the treatment of epilepsy.
5. Illustrate the value of minimally invasive epilepsy surgery.
6. Apply relationship-building values and the principles of team dynamics to perform effectively in different team roles to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient/population-centered care and population health programs and policies that are safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable.

Should Jefferson determine that the conference cannot proceed as scheduled due to health and/or safety concerns, such as but not limited to an emergency declaration by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or the United States Government, the activity may be converted to a virtual program or postponed.

 

Physicians: This educational activity is designated for a maximum of 6.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits^TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity awards 6.00 nursing contact hours.

Cancellation Policy
Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course. There will be no refunds after this period.* Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20). Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee. All refunds will be processed after the conference. The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines, or travel agencies.

*Registration fees will be refunded less a 15% administration fee to international conference registrants who are unable to secure a travel visa. Registrants must provide proof of visa denial.

Exhibitor Rules

Exhibitor is not providing commercial support for this educational activity. Exhibitor is purchasing exhibit space.

Exhibits are intended for informational purposes, products should not be sold onsite or through the virtual exhibit hall.

Thomas Jefferson University and the exhibitor acknowledge and agree that the exhibitor may be subject to Section 6002 of the Affordable Care Act, which added Section 1128G to the Social Security Act, and its implementing regulations codified in 42 CFR 402 &403 (Collectively the Sunshine Act). Exhibiting companies are solely responsible for collecting any information about actions within their exhibit space that constitutes a payment or transfer of value to a covered participant, which is required to be reported under the Sunshine Act.

Exhibitor activities are restricted to the allocated space at the conference site. Distribution of educational/promotional materials by the exhibitor is limited to their booth in the designated exhibit area. Distribution of these materials may not be done anywhere else in the activity area, in the activity meeting space, or at the entrances to activity meeting spaces.

All exhibits must be tabletop or portable in nature.

Photography by exhibitors that includes photos of the overall conference and/or attendees is prohibited.

Exhibitors may observe educational sessions but must refrain from participating in the activity.

No recordings of the scientific sessions on behalf of the exhibitor's company is permitted.

Delivery of any exhibitor shipments, supplies, and materials is the responsibility of the exhibitor and must be coordinated with the Office of Continuing Professional Development in advance. Shipments will be accepted at the Jefferson Alumni Hall loading dock no earlier than Wednesday, September 28, 2022. No shipment will be received after 12:00 noon on Friday, September 30, 2022.
