Overview

The 2nd Annual Epilepsy Update will emphasize the changes to medical treatment, surgical treatment, diagnosis, and management of individuals with epilepsy and seizures. Participants will learn to create a treatment plan and provide high-quality care for patients with epilepsy, including daily medication, rescue medications, emergency treatment, and surgical treatment. In addition, seizure morbidity and mortality, risks, and safety concerns will be discussed and identified, and strategies to mitigate them will be reviewed.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Explain prescribing principles and contraindications for epilepsy.
  2. Create a seizure treatment plan for individuals with epilepsy and intellectual disability.
  3. Identify autoimmune epilepsy initial treatment and evaluation.
  4. Examine the current devices utilized for the treatment of epilepsy.
  5. Illustrate the value of minimally invasive epilepsy surgery.
  6. Apply relationship-building values and the principles of team dynamics to perform effectively in different team roles to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient/population-centered care and population health programs and policies that are safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable.

Cancellation Policy
Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course.
There will be no refunds after this period.* Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20). Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee. All refunds will be processed after the conference. The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines, or travel agencies.

*Registration fees will be refunded less a 15% administration fee to international conference registrants who are unable to secure a travel visa. Registrants must provide proof of visa denial.
