Overview

The David M. Davis Visiting Professorship is a year-end program that invites a distinguished urologist to provide a series of lectures on their topic of expertise. There is also an interactive case presentation activity between the residents and the Visiting Professor which reinforces the topics discussed in the lecture components. This program is targeted at the faculty, resident, advanced practice provider staff and students in the Department of Urology.

This year Dr. Inderbir Gill, MD, FACS Professor of Urology and Chairman Urology Department University of Southern California. He will focus his lectures on the role of Advancing Robotic Surgery: What's Next. This topic is important and it prepares the residents and faculty on the updates to robotic surgery and how AI will work together for advance care.


 

 Visiting Professor Inderbir S. Gill, MD

Dr. Inderbir Gill is chairman and Distinguished professor of the Catherine and Joseph Aresty Department of Urology, founding executive director of the USC Institute of Urology and associate dean for clinical innovation. Dr. Gill is an internationally recognized leader in the field of robotic and laparoscopic surgery for urologic cancers.

An acclaimed innovator, he and his team are the world leaders in robotic urologic cancer surgery for prostate, kidney, and bladder cancer, having performed over 15,000 aggregate cases. For his outstanding work, Dr. Gill has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Dr. B.C. Roy National Award, presented by the President of India for Eminent Medical Person in India. It marked the first time a physician living outside of India was selected for this national award.

 


Successful Completion

To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than Friday, June 20, 2025. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, healthcare team members will be able to:

  1. Identify patients with advanced urologic malignancies who may be candidates for minimally invasive surgical procedures.
  2. List the surgical steps, pitfalls and pearls for minimally invasive tumor thrombus excision.
  3. Describe the currently available ways that artificial intelligence is being used in the field of urology and how to access them.

Physicians: This educational activity is designated for a maximum of 4.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Cancellation Policy
Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course. There will be no refunds after this period.*  Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20).  Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee.  All refunds will be processed after the conference.  The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines or travel agencies.
