Overview

Advances in Mind-Body Medicine Annual Conference is specifically designed for healthcare professionals interested in using integrative approaches to provide patient-centered care.

Daniel A. Monti, MD, MBA, The Ellen and Ron Caplan Chair of the Department of Integrative Medicine and Nutritional Science and CEO, Marcus Institute of Integrative Health at the Thomas Jefferson University has designed this multidisciplinary program to offer participants a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field of Mind-Body Medicine. This conference will cover the management and treatment of patients using this emerging and expanding approach to patient-centered care.

This activity will introduce the necessary framework for developing a patient-centered approach for integrating mind-body therapies and recommendations based on the latest data. A review of current evidence for topics will be conducted in mind-body medicine, such as the roles of various modalities in the treatment of mental health issues, pain management, and stress-related problems. The practical integration of these practices into the office visit will also be covered in this activity.

This year's event features topics on:

  • Brain Health
  • Stress & Immune Health
  • Mindfulness Based Interventions
  • Hypnosis for Pain Management
  • Advanced mind-body strategies for specialized populations

Successful Completion

To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than Tuesday, August 1, 2023. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Build the necessary framework for developing a patient-centered approach to use and recommend mind-body therapies, based on the latest data.
  2. Examine the current evidence in support of various modalities in mind-body medicine, with a focus on treatments for mental health issues, pain management, and stress-related problems.
  3. Evaluate the practical integration of these practices into the office visit.
  4. Analyze case samples to identify appropriate mind-body treatment modalities.
  5. Experiment with multiple mind-body treatment modalities.

Pre-Conference Modules
The following modules are 1.0 credit each for all credit types.

  • Hypnosis and Pain
  • Understanding Addiction: What Evolution Can Teach Us
  • Depression: Conventional and Integrative Approaches to Treatment: Current Evidence
  • Integrative Approach to Anxiety
  • Mind-Body Approaches to Cardiovascular Health This module qualifies for PA Patient Safety and Risk credit.

The following module is .50 credit for all credit types.

  • Going with Your Gut: An Update on Dietary Influences on the Microbiota and the Gut-Brain Connection

Day 1: 7.75 credit for all credit types
Day 2: 7.0 credit for all credit types


Accreditation

 

In support of improving patient care, Thomas Jefferson University is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

 

Physicians: This educational activity is designated for a maximum of 21.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity awards 21.25 nursing contact hours. 

Psychologists: This activity awards 21.25 credits.

 
Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.

 

Other Healthcare Professionals: This educational activity is designated for 21.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Other Credit

PA Patient Safety and Risk Credit: This education activity offers 2.0 PA Patient Safety and Risk credit. Qualifying sessions are noted on the agenda. 

American Academy of Family Physicians: The AAFP has reviewed Advances in Mind-Body Medicine and deemed it acceptable for up to 20.75 Live AAFP Prescribed credits. Term of Approval is from 06/16/2023 to 06/17/2023. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
