Overview

Nationally, we will host a consensus conference that brings together a diverse range of patients, community organizations, researchers, educators, clinicians, and other key stakeholders who have lived experience in the area of telehealth use and barriers among vulnerable populations to 1) identify best practices, 2) clarify knowledge gaps, 3) prioritize research questions, and 4) set a patient-centered research agenda related to reducing disparities in telehealth uptake.

Discussion will include a deep dive on identifying barriers to acceptability and feasibility of telehealth use for both clinical interventions as well as research procedures such as clinical trials enrollments. We will pay specific attention to the factors surrounding trust, confidence and relevance to individuals’ lives as an unspoken barrier to successful engagement in telehealth.

Findings will build knowledge regarding priority topics for future PCOR/CER initiatives, including information regarding gaps in evidence, priority populations and health decisions, appropriate interventions and comparators and outcomes that people representing the population of interest notice and care about. In addition, this work will facilitate development of a national network of stakeholders all invested in addressing telehealth barriers, thus increasing capacity for future communication and dissemination of any best practices.

Successful Completion

To successfully complete this educational activity, the required evaluation must be completed by November 13, 2022. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the evaluation by the stated deadline.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss the current state of evidence on telehealth disparities
  2. Identify priority research questions that should be explored to address the gaps in the published literature
  3. Construct a network of like-minded professionals working to eliminate disparities in telehealth use and uptake
