Overview

The David M Davis visiting professorship is a year-end program that invites a distinguished Urologist to provide a series of lectures on their topic of expertise. There is also an interactive case presentation activity between the residents and the Visiting Professor which reinforces the topics discussed in the lecture components.

This activity is targeted at the faculty, resident, advanced practice provider staff and students in the Department of Urology.

Visiting Professor: James A. Eastham, MD, FACS

Dr. James Eastham is a urologic surgeon,  a physician with advanced training in surgery of the genitourinary system, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center specializing in nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy for the treatment of prostate cancer, as well as salvage radical prostatectomy for men whose cancer has recurred after radiation therapy.

He completed his fellowship in urologic oncology in 1995 and has been in practice ever since, dedicating the past 15 years exclusively to caring for men with prostate cancer.

Successful Completion
To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than Thursday, May 28, 2026. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, healthcare team members will be able to:

  1. Select patients with favorable intermediate basic prostate cancer for active surveillance.
  2. Evaluate and manage rising PSA after radiation therapy.
  3. Recognize the role of prevail lymph node dissection after radical prostatectomy.

Registration is free for this activity. RSVP required by May 1, 2026.


Accreditation


In support of improving patient care, Thomas Jefferson University is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians: This educational activity is designated for a maximum of 4.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity awards 4.25 nursing contact hours.

Other Healthcare Professionals: This educational activity is designated for 4.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Cancellation Policy
Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course. There will be no refunds after this period.*  Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20).  Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee.  All refunds will be processed after the conference.  The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines or travel agencies. Registration fees will be refunded less a 15% administration fee to international conference registrants who are unable to secure a travel visa.
