Overview

For the past 14 years Thomas Jefferson University have organized and run a full day BOLD fMRI hands-on workshop that is offered in conjunction with the Annual American Society of Functional Neuroradiology (ASFNR) Meeting.

Thomas Jefferson University now offers a comprehensive, 2-day in house hands-on, clinical fMRI and DTI (tractography) workshop that will provide a didactic review of the physical and statistical principles, detailed review of data acquisition and processing steps and finally a case based clinical review of task based and resting state fMRI (rsfMRI) and DTI/Tractography. This will be followed by a practical step- by-step, hands-on, post-processing and data presentation of BOLD fMRI for both task-based and resting state language using MATLAB with SPM12 and CONN toolbox software for rsfMRI. This software will be provided to the attendees. Our course will also include a detailed live fMRI scanning session in our MRI Center. Our 2 day fMRI/DTI workshop will give the attendee an in-depth understanding of the physical, technical and clinical principles of brain mapping. Finally, the seminar will include a comprehensive, hands on session with major fMRI/DTI-Tractography software processing manufactures. CME credit will be available.

The clinical field of functional brain mapping began 20 + years ago by the founders of the ASFNR. We had to develop the techniques, process the data in our research MRI laboratories and learn the nuances of fMRI clinical interpretation. The ASFNR was pivotal in obtaining the CPT codes which stimulated the medical industry to create automated products to allow the world to provide clinical functional brain mapping.

With the detailed, true hands-on approach that our functional brain seminar provides, this will give the attendee the knowledge to begin to perform clinical fMRI/tractography and make a highly informed decision about which brain mapping product to purchase.

Successful Completion
To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than Thursday, April 17, 2025. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, healthcare team members will be able to:

  1. Review the physical principles of fMRI.
  2. Review of statistics of fMRI.
  3. Review of anatomy of Eloquent cortex.
  4. Evaluate fMRI automated processing with fMRI processing manufactures.
  5. Perform processing of fMRI data that will create that will fMRI images of eloquent brain cortex.
  6. Perform processing of DTI data that will create tractography images of eloquent white matter tracts.

Registration
To register for this activity, go to the Jefferson fMRI registration page.
