This symposium will introduce the latest developments in Kidney & Pancreas disease presented by experts in the field of Nephrology & Transplantation. Treating kidney disease as can be a complex issue and patient problems are diverse, necessitating a team approach with differing expertise and skills.

Attendees will be able to participate in the interactive panel discussions throughout the day.

Keynote Speaker: Richard (Rick) Hasz, Jr., MFS, CPTC

 

Mr. Hasz is also the president of the Gift of Life Transplant Foundation, president of the Gift of Life Institute, an international research and training center for donation and transplantation professionals, and president of Gift of Life Howie’s House which opened in 2011.

Mr. Hasz’s career features more than 30 years of life-saving work in the organ donation and transplantation field including oversight of Gift of Life’s clinical programs that encompass Transplant Coordination, Hospital Services, Organ Preservation, Eye Bank, Donation and Transplant Analytics, Quality Assurance and Tissue Recovery.

 

 

Successful Completion

To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than Thursday, October 3, 2024. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.

At the conclusion of this activity, healthcare team members will be able to:

  1. Explain the kidney allocation policies and how they have evolved over time to address inequities to increase access to transplantation.
  2. Describe transplant evaluation process and how to stay healthy during the process of getting on waitlist.
  3. Identify surgical considerations, medications, long term medical follow up in transplantation.
  4. Describe benefits of living kidney transplantation and how to self-advocate.
  5. List recent updates in Transplantation which have advanced the field.
  6. Discuss ways to optimize physical and mental health for transplantation.

Cancellation Policy

Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course. There will be no refunds after this period.*  Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20).  Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee.  All refunds will be processed after the conference.  The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines or travel agencies.
