Overview

This annual symposium will introduce the latest developments in liver disease as presented by experts in the field of Hepatology. Liver disease can be a complex issue and patient problems are diverse, necessitating a team approach with differing expertise and skills. Attendees will be able to participate in the interactive panel discussions throughout the day. Note: This Symposium will occur post AASLD Annual Meeting and bring the highlights of this event to Philadelphia.

All content is derived from presentations and similar offerings made at The Liver Meeting® 2023 and is presented with permission of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Outline strategies for accurately diagnosing, staging and treating alcohol- related liver disease.
  2. Review the presentation patterns of liver injury from drugs and dietary supplements.
  3. Acquire updates in the field of liver transplantation; including introduction of MELD 3.0 and use of transplant for patients with ACLF.
  4. Summarize the new nomenclature for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, namely MASLD.
  5. Implement the newest guidance on hepatitis B screening, and vaccination and advancements in managing viral hepatitis.
  6. Employ current guidelines and treatment strategies for managing cholestatic liver disease, HCC and genetic liver diseases, such as Wilson’s disease.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Thomas Jefferson University is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians: This educational activity is designated for a maximum of 6.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity awards 6.00 nursing contact hours.

American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN): This educational activity has been approved for 6.0 credits by the American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN). According to the American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN), the approved hours in this activity are considered GI Specific for the purpose of recertification by contact hours through ABCGN. Other Healthcare Professionals: This educational activity is designated for 6.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful Completion

To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than <Date-20 days after the last date of activity>. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.

Cancellation Policy

Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course. There will be no refunds after this period.*  Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20).  Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee.  All refunds will be processed after the conference.  The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines or travel agencies.
