Overview

This annual symposium brings together practitioners from various healthcare settings to develop the necessary skills to improve the quality and delivery of geriatrics and palliative care. Keynote lectures and interactive Q&A discussions explore issues relating to the physical, emotional and psychological care of older and seriously ill patients and their families.

Highlighting this year’s program will be 4 lectures focusing on each of the 4Ms of the Age-Friendly Healthcare Movement.

The 4Ms include:

  1. Medication
  2. Mentation
  3. Mobility and
  4. what Matters to patients.

These topics were specifically selected to meet the challenging needs in today's healthcare environment and to highlight Jefferson’s commitment to Age-Friendly Healthcare.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this symposium, the healthcare team will be able to:

  1. Adapt medical care to patients’ health priorities and preferences.
  2. Describe strategies to improve pain management in older adults.
  3. Utilize strategies to assess for mobility and functional status in older adults.
  4. Develop strategies for assessing depression in older adults.

Registration

 Successful Completion

To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than Thursday, September 28, 2023. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.

Accreditation

 

In support of improving patient care, Thomas Jefferson University is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians: This educational activity is designated for a maximum of 4.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity awards 4.00 nursing contact hours.

Pharmacists: This knowledge-based continuing education is designated for 4.00 credit contact hours of continuing education credit.

Cancellation Policy

Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course. There will be no refunds after this period.*  Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20).  Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee.  All refunds will be processed after the conference.  The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines or travel agencies.

In the event that the symposium is canceled by the organizers, exhibit fees will be refunded in full, however Thomas Jefferson University is not responsible for other expenses incurred by the exhibitor.
 
In the event an exhibitor cancels participation, refunds will be made as follows:
  • Prior to the deadline of Friday, August 25, 2023, a refund will be given minus a 10% administration fee.
  • After Friday, August 25, 2023, no refund will be given.
  • Exhibitors who are absent from the conference will not receive a refund.
