Overview

This program will include modules related to education about shared decision-making and decision counseling about lung cancer screening using the Jefferson Decision Counseling Guide.

The target audience for this program includes primary care physicians and other healthcare providers, including NPs and PAs. The information from this program will assist healthcare workers with identifying eligible patients for lung cancer screening and employing proper shared decision-making to help patients decide whether screening is right for them or not.


Objectives
After completing the module, learners will be able to:

  1. Summarize information about the options during the decision counseling session.
  2. Define decision making and shared decision making in the context of healthcare.
  3. Explain what decision counseling is and why it is important.
  4. Determine clear and unique reasons/goals during the decision counseling process.
  5. Compare the options and reasons/goals during the decision counseling process.
  6. Discuss preference during the decision counseling process.
  7. Develop an action plan during the decision counseling process.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Thomas Jefferson University is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.


Physicians:
This educational activity is designated for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity awards 1.00 nursing contact hours.
