Overview

The 27th Annual Jefferson Anesthesia Conference 2023 in Big Sky, Montana is proud to offer a diverse, comprehensive program with world-renowned experts. The program includes current trends in obstetric anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, regional anesthesia, pain medicine, and patient safety.

The program will also provide attendees with the tools to implement a PoCUS program and utilized diagnostic ultrasound at their institution. In addition, attendees will learn the latest techniques in regional anesthesia as well as current updates in opioid safety and perioperative pain management, including the recent multi-society buprenorphine guidelines. The program will also cover a number of topics including trauma anesthesia, management of obstetric hemorrhage, effective and inclusive community and provider wellness.

The program will encompass small-group problem-based learning discussions as well as hands-on point-of-care ultrasound and ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia workshop.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Examine the key drivers of burnout in healthcare.
  2. Construct effective individualized institution strategies and methods of implementation.
  3. Analyze the effect of non-inclusive communication on patient safety.
  4. Utilize inclusive communication in your practice.
  5. Demonstrate the benefits and barriers of opioid free anesthesia.
  6. Develop an effective multimodal approach to opioid free anesthesia.
  7. Examine the evidence regarding the negative effects of common anesthetics on the developing brain.
  8. Develop strategies to mitigate anesthetic neurotoxicity in pediatric patients.
  9. Examine the most common congenital cardiac abnormalities encountered and the effects on anesthetic management.
  10. Utilize the buprenorphine guidelines in the perioperative management of patients with opioid use disorder.
  11. Contrast the use of regional anesthesia in patients at risk for compartment syndrome.
  12. Develop an effective anesthetic approach to ambulatory total joint arthroplasty.
  13. Explain the sonoanatomy of novel peripheral blocks including PENG, iPaCK and novel truncal fascial plane blocks.
  14. Analyze the benefits of point-of-care ultrasound in the diagnosis and management of patients in the perioperative phase of care.
  15. Examine the risks of delivering anesthesia to the pregnant patient outside the labor suite.
  16. Define the most common mistakes made by providers when faced with a malpractice suit.
  17. Recognize the value of checklists in preventing error.
  18. Develop strategies to increase sustainability in the operating room.
  19. Discuss the use of tranexamic acid in the obstetric patient.
  20. Define the key drivers of the high level of maternal morbidity and mortality in the United States.

Physicians: This educational activity is designated for a maximum of 25.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful Completion

Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.

Cancellation Policy

Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course. There will be no refunds after this period.*  Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20).  Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee.  All refunds will be processed after the conference.  The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines or travel agencies.

In-Person Exhibitors
