Overview

This annual two-day Congress offered both in-person and online will introduce the newest developments in cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery and vascular surgery. Rich and stimulating presentations will be delivered by experts in the fields of cardiology, cardiac surgery, and vascular surgery. Cardiovascular care can be a complex issue and patient problems are diverse, necessitating a team approach involving different disciplines with differing expertise and skills. A separate breakout session for advanced practice providers will provide topics to support a team approach to patient care.

Day 1 Keynote Lecture: The past, present, and future of Cardiac Surgery

Keynote Lecture Speaker:


Joseph Bavaria, MD

Having performed more than 9,000 open heart procedures in his career, Dr. Bavaria is an expert in treating thoracic aortic aneurysms and repairing and replacing aortic valves. He is a skilled lecturer and educator, has held national and international leadership positions including president of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), president of the Thoracic Surgery Foundation, board member of the Heart Valve Society, and executive committee member of the European Association of CardioThoracic Surgery (EACTS).

Dr. Bavaria has also played a pivotal role in helping to establish national treatment guidelines.

Yair A. Lev, MD

Dr. Yair Lev is a cardiologist and clinical assistant professor at Jefferson Health in Philadelphia, PA. He is the Medical Co-Director of the inpatient Cardiology Unit at the Jefferson Heart Institute and the Director of Quality and Safety for the Cardiovascular Department. He is also the Director of the Division of Cardiology and a Lubert Family Professor of Medicine in Cardiology at Thomas Jefferson University.

 

William W. Boonn, MD

Dr. Boonn is the chief medical officer at Rad AI, Inc. He is also a practicing cardiovascular radiologist at the University of Pennsylvania and co-founder and CEO at Equium Intelligence, Inc. prior to its acquisition by Rad AI.


 

Ryan Lee, MD

Dr. Lee is Chair of the Department of Radiology at Einstein Healthcare Network. He attended Cornell University for his undergraduate studies and attained his medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Rochester and fellowship in Neuroradiology at the University of Pennsylvania. He has an MBA from the Simon School at the University of Rochester with concentrations in Health Care and Finance.

 

Reut Yalon, PhD

Dr. Reut Yalon is the Chief Product Officer at Aidoc, leading Aidoc’s product group and the company’s product strategy. Since joining Aidoc, Reut and her team developed and commercialized dozens of clinical, FDA-cleared products that are widely used daily in healthcare centers around the world, based on a market leading overarching framework that enables rapid deployment of new products to the market. Prior to joining Aidoc, Reut held product positions in medical imaging start-ups, with a passion to build products from ideation to commercialization. Reut received her post-doctorate and PhD degree from the Weizmann Institute of Science, where she developed novel imaging methods for non-invasive prenatal clinical applications. A prolific scientist, Reut authored over 10 scientific papers and two book chapters.

Vascular Boot Camp Exhibitor Session

Join us at this special event, to be held at the 4th Annual Philadelphia Cardiovascular Congress (PCC), on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 1pm-4pm. You will join specially invited companies who will display and showcase their vascular related products to include demonstration, discussion and networking time. This workshop style event will not offer CME, will be held at the same time as our afternoon sessions at the Congress, and is limited to a certain number in attendance. The intended target audience for this session are vascular specialists. There is no fee to attend this session, however, pre-registration is required and you must also be registered for PCC.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, healthcare team members will be able to:

  1. Discuss antiplatelet and antithrombotic treatment of patients with peripheral arterial disease.
  2. Evaluate the epidemiology of peripheral arterial disease and polyvascular disease.
  3. Determine considerations for open versus endovascular repair for critical limb ischemia.
  4. Discuss potential treatment options for severe aortic stenosis based on who is best suited for TAVR vs. SAVR.
  5. Interpret cardiac imaging studies in the management of coronary artery disease.
  6. Examine the timing and options for treating mitral regurgitation and mitral stenosis.
  7. Recommend treatment options for atrial fibrillation involving ablation tools and left atrial appendage closure.
  8. Examine the latest guidelines for atrial fibrillation.
  9. Evaluate the appropriateness of consumer wearable devices to detect cardiac arrhythmias.
  10. Discuss results of the CONVERGE trial and treatment of atrial fibrillation using a multidisciplinary approach.
  11. Identify patients suitable for lung transplantation.
  12. Discuss outcomes of lung transplantation in the 21st Century.
  13. Describe the current management of pulmonary artery hypertension.
  14. Discuss the diagnostic and management challenges associated with aortic regurgitation.
  15. Summarize treatment options for asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis: Medical therapy versus early intervention.
  16. Evaluate transcatheter approaches to tricuspid valve disease.
  17. Determine the utility of multi-arterial grafting in coronary artery bypass grafting.
  18. Discriminate between the various techniques available for treating coronary artery disease in order to provide best outcome for cardiac patient.

Abstracts

The 4th Annual Philadelphia Cardiovascular Congress is excited to be accepting abstracts for presentation this year! This is an excellent opportunity to present your scholarly work to an audience of experts in the field. Your work is paramount in the spreading of innovative ideas and helping to advance patient care locally and nationally. We are also excited to announce that the top 3 abstracts will receive a $500 cash prize.

Subjects: Cardiac, Vascular, and Pulmonary Medical/Surgical Topics. Topics presented at prior conferences ARE still eligible for presentation. Case reports are also encouraged!

  • View Live Stream, is where you will go to watch and hear the live talks on the day of the program. There will be a pop up on that link as well for entering the Day 2 Track breakout session.

  • Presentations, that we have received thus far, are currently available on the conference hub.Following the congress, we will update the webpage with the most recent version of the presentations.

  •  The Virtual Exhibit Hall, will be open on October 23rd and will remain open until November 24th. Please see the information in this email regarding the exhibitor raffles.

  • Congress Recordings, will become available on the hub website after the congress is over. Please check back on the hub to access them. The recordings will remain accessible for 30 days after the conference. These recordings are for viewing access only. CE credit is not available for the recordings, you must attend the program on day of to claim your CE credits.

  •  CE Materials and Agenda, are accessible on the conference hub until November 24th.
