Overview

Target audience - Private practice and academic general gastroenterologists.

Therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy continues to evolve rapidly, with expanding tools and techniques available to manage bleeding, resect complex lesions, and treat defects. While these advances have improved the ability of general gastroenterologists to deliver minimally invasive care, they have also introduced significant variability in knowledge, technical proficiency, and clinical decision-making across practice settings.

Many practicing gastroenterologists lack opportunities for structured, simulation-based training with new devices and techniques. This endoscopy reboot is designed to close gaps through an integrated learning experience combining practical didactic updates with one-on-one faculty guided hands-on instructions on devices and techniques using dry models, explant, and simulators.

Course participants will advance through a stepwise sequence reinforcing device selection, decision making, and hands-on skills across the three therapeutic domains of Hemostasis, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection, and Defect Closure.

Integrated stepwise learning experience combining practical updates and faculty guided hands-on instruction on devices and techniques with practice of procedural skills across three therapeutic domains: Endoscopic Mucosal Resection, Hemostasis, and Defect Closure.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, healthcare team members will be able to:

  1. Describe key differences among currently available endoscopic hemostatic agents based on mechanisms, indications, and supporting evidence.
  2. Select the ideal hemostatic agent based on bleeding etiology and clinical context.
  3. Integrate hemostatic agents into endoscopic management algorithms including primary, adjunctive, or salvage therapy.
  4. Differentiate available clipping devices based on design features and clinical applications.
  5. Select effective clipping techniques for hemostasis and defect approximation.
  6. Assess lesions to guide EMR approach and resection strategy.
  7. Perform appropriate EMR techniques for complete and safe lesion removal.
  8. Apply resection strategies to reduce recurrence and improve outcomes.
  9. Evaluate defect characteristics to guide appropriate closure strategy selection.

Registration

Jefferson Physicians: $125
Non-Jefferson Physicians: $300

This activity has a maximum capacity of 30 learners and is open to physicians only.

Accreditation
