Overview

This one day, in person conference, now in its 43rd year, will provide participants with the tools that can readily be implemented in daily practice. the program will feature presentations of esophageal, small bowel and colonic disorders, and also disorders of the liver and advances in gastroenterology.

Learning interests will be matched with updates on the latest clinical data, current and emerging treatment strategies, and case based panel discussions. gastroenterologists, internists, surgeons, primary care providers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with GI disorders are invited to attend.

Keynote Speaker: Shelby A. Sullivan, MD, FASGE

Dr. Sullivan is the Director of the Metabolic and Bariatric Program in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Center for Digestive Health at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health and is the past chair of the board of the Association for Bariatric Endoscopy, a Division of the ASGE and is currently a counselor on the ASGE Governing Board.

Since 2013, she has given over 150 invited lectures on obesity and endoscopic bariatric therapies in the US and abroad and has participated extensively in ASGE’s endoscopic bariatric therapies didactic and hands on courses. Dr. Sullivan was course co-director for the first and second ABE Annual Courses, and she has served as faculty at every ABE annual course through 2024. She has been faculty for the each of the Endoscopic Bariatric Therapies courses held at the ASGE ITT Center, was faculty or co-director for multiple ASGE Bariatric Endoscopy Hands-On sessions at Digestive Disease Week, and has been a co-chair of the ASGE Post-Graduate Course at DDW .

In her role as chair of the board for the ABE, she led the development of a multi-module Bariatric STAR Program with the ABE board members. She is also the chair of the EBMT committee for GIQuIC and has been a PI or co-I on multiple US multi-center pivotal trials of EBMTs.

Successful Completion
To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than Friday, September 26, 2025. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, healthcare team members will be able to:

  1. Utilize the newest approaches to managing esophageal and gastroduodenal disorders.
  2. Develop appropriate management plans for small bowel and colonic disorders.
  3. Discuss current CRC screening and surveillance guidelines.
  4. Assess key advances in GI and their impact on patient treatment and on research.
  5. Describe the interprofessional team strategies for improving care co-ordination and communication to improve patient outcomes.

In support of improving patient care, Thomas Jefferson University is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians: This educational activity is designated for a maximum of 8.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity awards 8.00 nursing contact hours.

Other Healthcare Professionals: This educational activity is designated for 8.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Registered Dieticians: This activity awards 8.00 contact hours.

ABIM MOC
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 8.00 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

PA Patient Safety and Risk Credit: This education activity offers 5.75 PA Patient Safety and Risk credit. Qualifying sessions are noted on the agenda.

Cancellation Policy
Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received in the Office of CPD two weeks prior to the start date of the course. There will be no refunds after this period.*  Cancellations notified before the two week time frame will incur a 25% administration fee (with a minimum of $20).  Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire fee.  All refunds will be processed after the conference.  The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone this course due to unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines or travel agencies.
